Repair and replacement

We fix what others would replace.

Failed assemblies rebuilt and retested on site, with replacement kept for the devices that genuinely need it.

Why this is the page that saves money

A failed test is not the same thing as a failed device.

When an assembly fails, the quickest thing any company can do is quote a new one. It is faster to install than to diagnose, and the invoice is larger. That is the reason a lot of perfectly repairable devices in the Upstate get thrown away every year.

Most failures come down to parts that are designed to wear: rubber checks that no longer seat, a relief valve that weeps, a tired spring, a seat that has scored. Those are rebuild kit items. The body of the assembly, which is the expensive part, is usually fine.

We diagnose first and tell you which it is. If it rebuilds, we rebuild it, retest it and file the certification. If it genuinely needs replacing we will say so and explain why, and we will size the replacement to the service rather than to whatever is on the shelf.

What we repair

Check valves and seats, relief valves, springs, diaphragms, o-rings and shutoff valves on reduced pressure zone assemblies, double check valve assemblies and pressure vacuum breakers. Every repair is followed by a retest and a fresh certification.

How a failed test gets resolved

Diagnose, not quote

We find out which component failed before anyone talks about a new assembly.

Rebuild on site

Common parts ride on the truck, so most repairs happen during the same visit.

Retest and file

The repaired device is retested and the certification goes to your purveyor.

Questions we get asked

  • Is it cheaper to repair or replace a backflow preventer?

Repair, in most cases. A device that failed on worn checks or a tired relief valve is a rebuild, not a replacement. Replacing an assembly that could have been rebuilt is the expensive way to pass a test, and it is the single thing we get called about most.

  • How long does a rebuild take?

Most rebuilds are done in the same visit as the failed test. We carry common parts, so the device is repaired, retested and certified before we leave.

  • When does a device genuinely need replacing?

When the body is cracked or corroded through, when parts are no longer made for it, or when the assembly is the wrong size or type for the service it is on. We tell you which of those it is before we do anything.

  • Does the repair come with a warranty?

Yes. One year on parts and labor.

Get a failed device sorted

Tell us what failed and where the property is. If you have the tag off the assembly, the make and size help us bring the right parts.

  • We test the assembly and file the report with your utility
  • Failed devices rebuilt and retested, usually on the same visit
  • One year warranty on parts and labor
  • Every technician is SC DHEC certified, and we never subcontract
